Spencer Bell was a genius to most that knew him. He did things that normal people his age could
or would never have done, and he did it with passion. He inspired the people around him to live
life to the fullest and to do what they felt was best.
On Thanksgiving day, in 2006, Spencer went to the hospital with his little brother Brady because
of a pain in his abdomen that had been bothering him for almost a month. The worst news possible
came from this hospital visit. Spencer had Adrenal Cancer, one of the most rare and deadly cancers there is.
After much consideration, and looking at all the options, it was decided that chemo and radiation
would do no good and that Spencer would not make it off the table if put through surgery. The
cancer had already spread to his liver, kidney, & adrenal gland and was even effecting his heart.
Spencer took his moment to think over what was happening before calling his mother into the room
and making the proper arrangements for his musical instruments, writing, and other belongings. He
even explained exactly what he wanted his memorial service to be like and what to do with his ashes.
His friends and family gathered around and made his time here the best they could.
On December 3, 2006, after all of his friends and extended family had went home for the night,
Spencer passed away with his parents at his side.
Even in spirit, Spencer inspires everyone his music
touches. People who would have never known each other have bonded over his music and have become the
best of friends. Spencer's family continues to strive to spread the word of his life and his legacy
through the Spencer Bell Memorial. You can read more of his story, talk to other Spencer lovers,
look through videos, pictures, and Spencer artwork and poetry, as well as listen to all of his music.
